I'm sorry Youjie.

I am wide awake.

But i've only just slept at 3am.

You see, i have accidentally betrayed my godsister's brother. I was talking to suzhen until 3am... 2 hrs and 30 minutes ago. That's when their father wasn't back home yet. Suzhen was saying she had a few blue blacks, her father hit her yesterday or the day before. On friday cynthia suzhen annie and me went home pretty late. 9something 10pm. Suzhen had gotten 2nd place in the individual ladies' placing, and she got a trophy. So we thought it would be okay to stay out slightly longer. You know me, i'm always staying out late. Unfortunately i kept didn't realise suzhen would kana so badly when she reached home. I'm sorry suzhen. I know we had a very fun time on Friday, and (in my own opinion only) you sounded like the beating was a worthy trade-off. But it's not. NOBODY IS JUSTIFIED TO HIT THEIR CHILDREN. Even more so when a father hit his DAUGHTER when she came back late, which is really a very minor issue. And her room was messy. That's what suzhen told me. I asked her why. She said "cos i girl mah". To the few people reading this blog, i point out now; You raise a daughter to be nice and gentle, don't you? And when you raise a girl, should you hit your daughter because she stayed out too late, plus her room was messy? No fucking matter she was second in bowling (and got a trophy to show it), cos You (The father) either don't know for nuts what bowling is about, or You simply don't like the sport; and You feel that a girl should be more neat and tidy, and the only way to teach her is to whack her. God, I know everyone's a bit twisted in their own way, but i really feel that the abovementioned Father really is fucked up. Shouldn't a father encourage his kids to pursue what they like and want? I can rant on but you get the point. Okay so you know, we talked lots of stuff, but I was practically sleeptalking during the last 15 minutes of my conversation. Then suzhen said okay lah, we both very tired already, lets go sleep, bye bye. So i went to sleep.

Then suddenly suzhen's brother's phone (She used that to talk to me) rang. I snapped up from my sleep. Then the ringing stopped. I thought it was suzhen trying to wake me up and jee siow siow me. Wow, i was wrong by a long shot. The number "Withheld" appeared on my handphone, and i picked it up. Then the worst possible voice i could hear at that time, on that phone i did hear. Suzhen's father called me.

He asked me who i was, and asked whether i called for suzhen .I knew that if i said i called for suzhen she would get beaten up BAD. If i said youjie maybe their father would not care so much. After all he is a second year polytechnic student leh. So with my dulled senses my only defence would be to say "youjie". So this person put down the phone, banged the door (i presumed its youjie's door). Then i heard Youjie whimpering and said "i nv call its suzhen call one" and suzhen was saying "its your call" in really really desperate voices. Just over ONE phone call which lasted not more than a minute. Their father said "who call this number one, it(the handphone) says 5:10am", they both defended themselves. I have a nagging feeling their father pressed on something accidentally , because remember that Suzhen's brother's hp rang only 2 times and then stopped, and perhaps he thought either his son or daughter just used the phone to call but heard him coming back and quickly hung up and pretended to sleep, when it was actually he himself who actually pressed wrong. That above sentence is just a presumption which i make now based on what limited information i can gather. I really feel damn guilty now.

I hung up. A few hrs before, suzhen and me were laughing and joking and talking. I even managed to exchange some banter with her brother, teasing suzhen. And 2 and a half hrs later, both their voices are so desperate and filled with terror, just because of this one man.

Somebody tell me what i should do.

P.S although we talked till 3am, i think their father doesnt know that. If he knew he wouldnt bother calling. He would simply whack her liao.
