Hello, its a beautiful Monday morning, the birds are chirping and... Who the hell am I kidding.

I'd just like to say that I'd be proud to write a book that I would read myself. That I would happily buy, like Terry Pratchett, or Philip Pullman, or Neil Gaiman's Sandman series.

That is my guideline; I'll start on working with that in mind.

Having said that, I feel that Neil Gaiman's writing in novels isn't all that great. It seems that the synergy of plot with visual drawings (comics) allowed the comic artists' to better animate his abstract side; somehow it doesn't translate into his novels, where he's all by himself. You get muddled, you are supposed to feel strongly for his characters yet they all 'feel' like they've been scripted. One-sided and not rounded out.

As for Pratchett's writings, the earlier books tend to use the latter half of the book for a climax, and maybe 1/20 of the remaining for the ending. Hmm. THUD! and Night Watch are the best of his writings that I've read.

Pullman writes well; his sentences seem to flow from one to the other so seamlessly. Maybe because of his Oxford degree in English? ~_~ Much to learn from him.

Just observations. I'm saving money, and after my attachment I will start to crunch for the first draft (hopefully).
